Partner Projects

Big Read Wichita

Big Read Wichita is an annual literary tradition in south-central Kansas. The Library partners with area organizations to read and discuss a single book. The selection for fall 2018 is Station Eleven by Emily St. John Mandel.

Big Read Wichita is part of the national Big Read, a program of the National Endowment for the Arts in partnership with Arts Midwest. The Big Read is designed to revitalize the role of literature in American culture and bring the transformative power of literature into the lives of citizens.

The Foundation Center

The Nazar Foundation Collection at the Advanced Learning Library is an affiliate of the national Foundation Center. The Cooperating Collection contains information on potential funding from foundations, corporations, the public sector and other sources for nonprofit organizations and individuals. The Collection consists of Foundation Center directories, updated annually, and an online database. Collection materials also include guides on grantseeking, proposal writing, other means of fund raising, and texts on nonprofit management, board leadership and volunteerism.

The Collection is available during regular hours.

Senior Wednesdays

Offered in cooperation with 11 other cultural institutions in Wichita, Senior Wednesdays are designed for active seniors and made possible by Larksfield Place.

See all Senior Wednesday listings at seniorwednesday.org.

Wichita Photo Archives

The Wichita Public Library, the Wichita-Sedgwick County Historical Museum, and the Wichita State University Libraries' Department of Special Collections collaborated to provide a single web-based source where researchers could view and study historic images of Wichita. The result was the Wichita Photo Archives.
