Celebrate Kansas Reads to Preschoolers with the Wichita Public Library throughout November! This year, we’re reading Groovy Joe: Ice Cream and Dinosaurs by Eric Litwin. This is a "rhyming, rhythmic tale by the author of Pete the Cat picture books that features a fun-loving, guitar-strumming, ice cream-eating pup who wrangles three hungry dinosaurs into joining the fun."
You can read the book free online through Scholastic Bookflix. All you need is your library card. You can also check out the book from the Library in English and Spanish.
We have a special treat for you! On November 15, we premiered a special video teaching you all about ice cream and dinosaurs. If you missed it, don't panic! We've saved it here just for you.
Your Wichita Public Library librarians have put together creative, educational and downloadable activities you and your young reader can complete together:
Kansas Reads to Preschoolers is an annual event that promotes reading to all Kansas children from birth through age five. Through the statewide program, parents, librarians and caregivers are encouraged to read the chosen title during a selected week and month. The State Library of Kansas, along with the Kansas Reads to Preschoolers committee, chooses the book.
