Checkout Limits

You may have up to 8 combined e-books and e-audiobooks from Wichita E-Reads checked out at once. In addition, you may have up to 16 active hold requests on e-books and e-audiobooks. E-books and e-audiobooks may be checked out for up to 21 days and may be renewed if no one else has placed them on hold. You can also check out e-magazines, which have no limits.

The State Library of Kansas

The State Library of Kansas provides e-books and e-audiobooks to Kansas residents through the following services:

  • cloudLibrary - e-audiobooks and e-books (bestsellers, large publishers)
  • Comics Plus - e-books of comics, graphic novels, and manga (no viewing limits)
  • Enki Library - e-books (great variety, includes self-published titles)
  • Freading - e-books (no holds, large collection)

Project Gutenberg

Project Gutenberg is a free online repository of e-books with a focus on titles whose copyright has expired. Project Gutenberg contains more than 60,000 titles.
