Resources for Households

Emergency Broadband Benefit Program

A new temporary program from the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is designed to help families that might not be able to afford internet service during the COVID-19 pandemic. The Emergency Broadband Benefit (EBB) is a program that will connect eligible households to jobs, critical healthcare services, virtual classrooms and more.

How does it work? The EBB will provide a discount of up to $50 per month for broadband service for eligible households, and up to $75 per month for households on qualifying Tribal lands. Eligible households can also receive a one-time discount of up to $100 to purchase a laptop, desktop computer or tablet if they contribute between $10-50 toward the purchase price.

To see if you’re eligible (and to apply), visit GetEmergencyBroadband.org.

Do you need help applying? Call (316) 261-8500 and ask for a Book-A-Librarian session. You can also visit any Wichita Public Library location with public computers, printing and scanning services to complete your application.
